Step 5 – Within the WordPress Editor for the post (or page) to be edited, change the WordPress Editor to use the Code Editor. This is an important step and if skipped can result in rubbish being displayed on your finished WordPress Post (or page). That is not something you want.

I am using the Gutenberg version of the WordPress Editor. From memory, the Classic version of the WordPress Editor has similar functionally however its steps or keystrokes may be different.

To toggle between the WordPress Code Editor and the WordPress Visual Editor, press Ctrl + Shift + Alt + M when using the WordPress Editor.

To use the code editor within a WordPress Post (or Page) do the following:

  • Within the WordPress Dashboard, select Posts or Pages from the menu on the left hand side, then do a “2” to edit the applicable Post or Page.
  • There are three dots on top of each other near the top right.
Click on that to expand that. The second main option is called Editor. Click on “code editor”. The view of your article changes if you were in “visual editor”. With the “code editor”, html code can be added as well as normal text.

Before continuing, make 100% certain that you are using the WordPress Code Editor, then paste the HTML code into the appropriate place. Below is an example on how to do this.

Example: This adds an Amazon “Text and Image” Affiliate Link on the right hand side with text wrapped around it:

Once I put that html code into my post, and replace “Paste and copy the html code directly from Amazon Associates Do Not Change Anything unless you know exactly what you are doing” with the html code I retrieved from Amazon Associates, it generates the following:

bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah
